Did you know that we sit for up to 400 minutes of our working day when we work from home- that is almost 85% of our working day? Sedentary behaviour refers to any waking behaviour requiring low energy expenditure in seated or reclining postures (for e.g., working at your desk and not moving for long periods). Sedentary behaviour is a public health hazard that has several physical and mental health consequences and is linked with a higher risk of mortality, Type 2 diabetes, and musculoskeletal issues. The COVID-19 pandemic has permanently changed the way we work, and in the ‘new normal’ many of us spend a proportion of the week working from home. While working from home has many benefits, it also means more sitting!

The event is intended for all adults who spend a part of their week working from home. This will include those with part-time and full-time roles, and those who have a hybrid working format.
