Entrepreneurship skills and understanding have a significant role to play in society catalysing economic growth. The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (2023) highlights a strong entrepreneurial framework in the UK across most dimensions. However, entrepreneurial education at the school stage is comparatively underdeveloped.
This session will help audience members understand the important role of entrepreneurship for young people supporting the development of critical competencies and skills, including self-efficacy, creativity, and proactiveness. By drawing on foundational entrepreneurship knowledge and understanding young entrepreneurs can test and scale their ideas.
The formal curriculum is often crammed with working toward public exams and subject teachers may not have experience teaching entrepreneurship, which draws from multiple disciplinary areas including strategy, marketing, and finance. This can create challenges in embedding entrepreneurship learning across the sector.
Our expert speakers outline the important role of entrepreneurship education with young people 13-17 years old and offer insights into how such learning can be incorporated into the curriculum, co-curriculum, and extra-curricular activities.
