What’s on offer?

Are you a small business owner or finance professional interested in learning more about central bank digital currencies and the future of digital finance?

Join researchers from the University of Surrey, Dr Vahid Mirza and Dr Nikolai Kazantsev, along with blockchain experts Portdex, to explore the opportunities and challenges CBDC's offer to small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) and their supply chains.

What’s it about?

This interactive event at the prestigious Surrey Technology Centre on Surrey Research Park, will help business owners, finance professionals, researchers and others understand the implications of new blockchain technologies in light of the planned introduction of a government-backed digital pound and other digital assets like invoice tokenisation.

Attendees will hear from a panel of expert researchers who are working on an ESRC funded project to produce business analyses and feasibility studies for CBDC uptake, develop a peer-to-peer digital transaction network, and bring SMEs together to inform and influence policy in this area. Participants will be invited to engage in experimental simulation studies if they are interested.

Who’s leading the event?

Dr Vahid Mirzabeiki, Senior Lecturer in Operations Management, University of Surrey. Dr Nikolai Kantasev, Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Surrey
