Join Cate and Faidra, applied linguistics researchers from the University of Oxford’s Department of Education, plus guests from World Kid Lit and the Queen’s College Translation Exchange/Stephen Spender Trust for a day of multilingual activities and fun with languages!
Start the day (10am) with a multilingual singalong in several languages aimed at parents with babies, and a reading tour of the globe (11am) with World Kid Lit for toddlers and younger primary school children. After lunch, join a drama-based activity (1pm) with multilingual actress Faidra, and then a creative poetry translation workshop (2pm) with ambassadors from the Queen’s College Translation Exchange and Stephen Spender Trust. Both afternoon activities are aimed at primary-school students.
Throughout the day, we will have multilingual craft-based activities and a story corner running alongside the workshops, so that you can bring your whole family! Parents and carers can have a cuppa and chat to our team members about raising children with multiple languages.
Sessions are drop-in and you are welcome to attend any parts that interest you. No need to book ahead but we will allocate space on first-come, first-served basis, so do arrive in good time for your preferred activities. Adults must stay at the venue and remain responsible for their children at all times.
