Creative Remembrance

Creative remembrance

Our digital lives theme

What’s on offer?

A free workshop and exhibit using art to honour and heal.  The event invites participants of all ages to use artistic expression to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed on -- and, in so doing, to work through difficult emotions. You will find a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, uplifting art, and an opportunity to learn about artistic approaches that can support wellbeing.

What’s it about?

You can arrive at any time and stay as long as you like.  We will be repeating a short talk every hour on the hour; in between, you can view pieces from our international 'Rest and Relaxation' exhibit, contribute to the collaborative creation of eco-friendly woven urns, and experiment with creative techniques that support reflection and dealing with difficult emotions.

Who’s leading the event?

The sessions will be facilitated by Dr Caitlin Kight, Lecturer in Education Studies at the University of Exeter, and members of the Creative Toolkit Research project (funded by the Societies and Cultures Insitute, the Education Incubator, and the QUEX Fund at the University of Exeter).  In addition to being an experienced educator, Caitlin is also an award-winning and internationally published creator who is passionate about wellbeing.

Open to

The event is open to anyone, though the activities are most suitable for those over 5 years old. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Of particular interest to

The event may be of particular value to those (including young people) who have lost a loved one, are involved in palliative care, and/or are interested in the connection between art and wellbeing.
