Toddlers, Tech and Talk

Toddlers, Tech and Talk (TTT) Project

Our digital lives theme

What’s on offer?

Advice to parents regarding digital technology who often feel shame, guilt, confusion or worried. It is less common for parents to be actively involved in developing guidance which will be of benefit to them and other carers of young children.

We are inviting parents to hear more about the research and to explore their views about the type of resource (guidelines, Top Tips, for example) that will help you as parents (and other parents) support children’s positive and safe use of digital technology.

What’s it about?

Toddlers, Tech and Talk (TTT) project. The event is aimed at parents and carers of children who are aged 3 years and under and who come from a range of diverse backgrounds. Parents/carers are often on the receiving end of a lot of (often contradictory) advice regarding digital technology which leaves them feeling shame, guilt, confusion or even worried. It is less common for parents to be actively involved in developing guidance which will be of benefit to them and other carers of young children. Join us as we share some findings form our recent research in this area and we ask parents/carers to explore the questions they most want answers to.

The project has shown that many families have lots of different types of digital devices in their homes, that parents use digital technology with their children to learn, play and connect with other family members and that also children sometimes use them on their own.

Who’s leading the event?

Members of the project team from Queen’s University Belfast and University of Strathclyde, Glasgow will be there. For more information, please email Karen on k.winter@qub.ac.uk
