Everyone is welcome to join for an online session to learn from researchers and the diabetic community about how diabetic people can best care for their feet. You'll have the opportunity to hear presentations from an academic study and contribute your views and experiences to inform future support.
Researchers on an NHS England-funded initiative to tackle health inequalities within diabetes footcare will present their qualitative findings from a Hindsight study, where people who had experienced an amputation were invited to write a letter to their former self regarding experiences and regrets in terms of their health care and lifestyle practices. The aim of the research was to utilise findings to develop an animation resource that would provoke a stronger response relating to foot care than is currently generated in diabetes foot-related education.
Following the presentation of the findings, you'll have the opportunity to watch some snippets of the animation. We'll invite you to engage in discussion with other diabetic people, carers and publlic health professionals around what emotions these videos provoke and how best these videos can resource can be developed and used to improve self-care and reduce amputations.
The overall aim of the event is to develop further resources that can effectively bring home to viewers how important diabetes foot care really is, and as a result bring about lifestyle change and healthcare engagement to prevent PVD exacerbation and amputation. Your contribution will be greatly valued and we hope you will benefit from learning about the research and meeting new people.
