What’s on offer?

 

Join researchers, activists and disability organisations at this film screening, panel discussion and networking event looking at this pressing issue from the perspective of those with lived experience. The event aims to promote understanding and advocate for improved support for individuals with learning disabilities and autism within the community.

Details of the event:

 

15:00-17:00 - You'll be joining us to chat with organisations working with people with learning disabilities, autistic people and in mental health. You'll have the opportunity to network, learn about the work they do and take part in short art-based activities on the day. 

 

17:00 - 18:00 - You'll be invited to watch our Film "Homes not Hospitals- the impact of missed opportunities" followed by brief talks from our panel of experts and a Q&A session.

What’s it about?

Holding people with learning disabilities and/or autistic people in hospitals is a significant issue in the UK. Thousands of individuals and their families are affected, with many experiencing prolonged stays. The hospital environment is often perceived as unsupportive, hindering recovery and creating barriers to discharge.
