What’s on offer?

Workshop bringing together academics/experts in the Social and Life Sciences and civil society representatives. It will comprise of talks by experts on the latest developments in human genetic engineering and the social-political considerations stemming from them, followed by discussions with third-sector participants. Lunch provided.

What’s it about?

The workshop seeks to bring to participants’ attention cutting-edge developments in human genetics and genetic engineering technologies. Among such technologies, whole human genome sequencing, human embryo editing, physical and cognitive genetic enhancement, reversing ageing and longevity, gene therapies, and others, will be touched upon.

The participants will be invited to reflect on and debate the possibly profound implications of these developments for individuals and society at large, and to envisage courses of action for socio-political actors in assessing and dealing with such implications.
