Juggling boundaries: celebrating courage, culture and community

Step into a world of stories with our giant map, “Map of Me” Adventure! Find the country your family comes from and mark it with a colourful sticker or pin. Then, choose a special word—like family, food, kindness, courage, or honesty—in your family's language and add it to our magical Value Tree. Together, we’ll build a forest of values from around the globe, showing how our roots help us grow strong and connected!

The research at UH explores how cultural values, especially Confucian traditions, shape the lives and choices of women in Malaysia. Through interviews and storytelling, the research uncovers how identity, migration and family influence the way people live, lead and belong. Come along to find out more about the research that celebrates courage, compassion, and the power of personal values.

You’ll also meet Karen, the academic researcher leading this work. She is Head of the Business School Online Department at UH and a passionate advocate for helping children and families discover what matters most to them.
