Tech & AI in later life: Tools, tips and confidence for the digital world (online)

Technology plays a central role in everyday life, yet not everyone experiences it equally. Our University of Hertfordshire research explores how older adults interact with digital tools and AI, revealing both opportunities and challenges. Many older people want to use technology to stay connected, access services, or manage daily tasks, but barriers such as confusing interfaces, assumptions about digital ability, or limited guidance can make this difficult.

At the Festival of Social Science, our stand gives you a chance to engage with the research. You can take part in a quick poll, sharing your experiences with technology and AI in a simple, fast way. The poll asks a few short questions about how you use digital tools and what challenges you face. This helps illustrate the range of experiences among older adults and provides a snapshot of the issues our research explores. While the stand gives a taste of the research, the interactive online session the following week will dive deeper, offering insights, discussion, and practical tips. By visiting the stand and signing up to the online event, you can help shape a better understanding of how technology can work for everyone.
