Calling those aged 18 - 30 we need you!
Come along to the workshop to explore and develop ideas for sustainable policies to make a difference for Lancaster District! In this workshop you will be invited to reflect upon your experiences of sustainable ways of living, and help to co-articulate ideas for environmental policies, strategies, and priority values to help inform Lancaster placemaking and sustainability in the district.
It doesn’t matter if you have a lot of ideas about sustainability or are not really sure what it is all about, your voice matters. We want you to share your views, raise your voice on issues close to your heart regarding future sustainable ways of living and dwelling, and craft your perspectives and values to inform policy ideas for the development of the Lancaster District.
In the wake of the COP26 climate conference and the UK commitment to reducing CO2 emissions to net zero by 2050, there has been an increased focus on the ‘green transition’. Yet it is crucial that city authorities bring people into this process, to co-produce policies that are sustainable in the long-term.
Through our research Placemaking with Young Adults, we are exploring novel ways to embed public engagement and dignified participation in policy making for the urban environment. This workshop focuses on design policy, sustainable and placemaking policies and has the potential to radically transform the way in which policymaking is designed, articulated, and delivered for Lancaster District and we'd love you to get involved!
Coming together with local council and environmental agency leaders, you will be a part of a workshop using novel methods to build bridges between Councils, local authority officials, and young people on environmental policies. The aim is to co-design policies that will be more effective (financially and environmentally) in the longer-term and address sustainability and social challenges associated to climate emergency.
The workshop is led by Dr Mirian Calvo, Lecturer in Participatory Architecture, Imagination Lancaster and Lancaster School of Architecture
