You will be invited to respond to a scenario (robbery with some violence) and then select cards that appeal most to you about what you feel is needed for the person they were in the scenario. These cards will cover themes from the criminal justice system (punishment, rehabilitation, incapacitation) and themes from alternatives to justice, like transformative justice (input/ownership over decision-making, support from the community). Two people at a time can take part, and if desired, people can take part in pairs. After each activity, there will be an opportunity to discuss the activity and their selection with one of the researchers/activists present and how these relate to criminal justice and its alternatives.
This connects to social science research conducted at the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research on what justice is and alternatives to justice. It also ties into the Interdisciplinary Research Theme of Justice and Fair Decision Making.
