The ECHO-O Lab, based within the Department of Psychology at Royal Holloway University, will host four online workshops via MS Teams. These workshops will be one hour in length each. Each workshop will comprise a 20-25 minute presentation from members of the lab, as well as guest speakers from institutions across the UK, followed by 10-15 minutes of breakout rooms for group discussion, finishing with an open discussion between all attendees and the speaker.
These workshops will address different topics related to the risks, benefits and opportunities of children and adolescents' social media use.
An in-person event will then take place on Wednesday 6th November at Royal Holloway University campus in Egham. This in-person event will be hosted alongside our charity partners, Surrey Youth Focus and Eikon, and will summarise all topics addressed within the online workshops. We will then host a debate and open discussion with all attendees.
Importantly, attendees do not need to attend all of these events; attendees can attend as few or as many as they like.
Our events will focus upon the risks, benefits and opportunities of children's and adolescents' social media use.
The ECHO-O Lab will be disseminating important findings from across 8 years of research, and ongoing research. We aim for practitioners to be able to utilise our findings within their practice.
We also encourage practitioners to share their own expertise, skills and experience. We intend on building a collaborative network of researchers and practitioners who are all passionate about children and adolescents' positive experiences within a digital age.
