Lifelong wellbeing theme

What’s on offer?

Join us for an afternoon of learning and local engagement with our interactive workshop. We will be showcasing our solar panel installation at a local community garden, situated at an interface area in North Belfast.

This event will be an open forum where you can learn more about sustainable community gardening and explore the possibility of replicating the use of solar energy to empower community gardens in your own area.

Discover the benefits of solar power which include supporting social cohesion and wellbeing, positive benefits on environmental sustainability and financial resilience for local community organisations.

What’s it about?

GROW NI, at the Waterworks, Belfast is an established community garden encouraging well-being and cross-community interactions. Ulster University recently installed an off-grid solar energy system, which has brought electricity to the site, raised renewable energy awareness amongst stakeholders and enabled hands-on interaction with the technology. This event aims to showcase the work to the community garden network and explore opportunities to replicate the model elsewhere. It focuses on interface areas where it could catalyse cross-community collaborations. Attendees will learn about the technology that has been installed and how this benefits day-to-day activities in the garden. This will be followed by an open forum where attendees share allotment produce and ideas.
