Have you ever wanted to try a new technology without having to buy one? We are running a drop-in session from 12.30 until 15.30 where you can visit different stations and try a vast array of digital technologies. These vary from everyday practical devices such as laptops, tablets, and desktop computers to newer and more interactive devices such as smart speakers. You could even go on a trip to Machu Picchu using our Virtual Reality headset.
It'll be a safe space for people with all levels of experience, from beginners to experts, where you can play with different technology, learn about how to use it, and ask us any questions and advice. You can pop in for 5 minutes or stay for the entire time, it is entirely up to you.
The event is being led by researchers from the University of Stirling who are interested in peoples’ experiences of technology. They include Dr Carolyn Wilson-Nash (Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Retail), Dr Grant Gibson (Senior Lecturer in Ageing and Dementia), and Dr Ismini Pavlopoulou (Lecturer in Digital Marketing).
The event is open to anyone over the age of 65 who would like to know more about technology. Family, friends, and carers are also more than welcome to pop along.
This event might be of particular interest to people who do not currently use much or any technology but would like more confidence to use it. Or people living alone who would like some technical advice and support.
No need to book, just pop in anytime from 12.30 to 15.30 on the day of the event.
