“The Tribunal”

- Exploring the injustices in international law and mining

The Tribunal

What’s on offer?

Social Cinema Experience - Film Screening and Community Supper

Join us for a social cinema experience where we will be exploring the social and environmental injustices associated with international economic law, especially in mining critical minerals. Filmed in the megadiverse Ecuadorian cloud forest, University of Exeter Lecturer, Malcolm Rogge's powerful documentary film "The Tribunal" brings to light the disturbing impacts on local environmental defenders of the shadowy international investment arbitration system.  The event will create a wholesome and holistic evening, connecting you with your community, increasing awareness, and looking towards achievable and positive solutions, all whilst enjoying a physically and mentally boosting evening film and workshop experience.

What’s it about?

We will explore the following themes and subjects: international economic law, international investment arbitration and the "investor-state dispute settlement mechanism" (ISDS), mining critical minerals, logging, exploitation of resources, international relations, environment and sustainability, civil rights, human rights, and the "rights of nature."

Who’s leading the event?

Led by Dr Malcolm Rogge, Lecturer at the University of Exeter.
