Exploring different historical perspectives to understand what 'Russia' and 'Russian' really mean.

What’s on offer?

Four female researchers will give 10-15 minute talks from deifferent perspectives about what it means when we say "Russia" or "Russian". This will be followed by a Q&A.

What’s it about?

What do we mean when we say something is 'Russian'? The complexities of the largest nation on Earth are still largely unknown to most people outside of Russia. We hope you will join us for an evening of thought-provoking discussion looking at Russia from modern and historical perspectives including economics, linguistics and ethnic minority literature.

Who’s leading the event?

Dr Olga Cam, University of Sheffield Management School

Open to

The event is open to anyone over 18- we suggest that some of the themes discussed may not be suitable for younger audiences.

Of particular interest to

Anyone interested in Russian culture or history
