What's on offer?

Led by Prof Claire Hardaker, Dr Georgina Brown, and Hope McVean, this actvity explores how convincingly AI can mimic the human voice – not just in speech, but in singing.

What's it about?

Think you can tell the difference between a human singer and an AI? Put your ears to the test in this quick interactive quiz!

Led by Prof Claire Hardaker, Dr Georgina Brown, and Hope McVean, this project explores how convincingly AI can mimic the human voice – not just in speech, but in singing. With AI tools improving rapidly, it’s becoming easier than ever to generate voices that sound real. But can machines really capture the nuances of a human performance, or will your ear catch them out?

You’ll hear nine short clips of singing, , and all you have to do is decide: Bot or Not?

At the end, see how you scored, and tell us what clues you spotted along the way. It’s playful, anonymous, and you can try as many times as you like – but behind the fun lies a bigger question: what happens when AI gets so good, we can’t tell the difference anymore?
