What's on offer?

An online event featuring two main elements:

Research and panel discussion – presentation of new evidence by Dr Kitty Lymperopoulou, followed by a panel of experts from policing, judiciary, legal professions, and community organisations.

Interactive workshops – participants will rotate through themed online “tables” discussing remand and ethnicity, plea decisions, sentencing outcomes, and cumulative disadvantage, shaping practical recommendations.

What's it about?

The event explores how racial and ethnic disparities persist and accumulate across the criminal justice system. Drawing on findings from the ESRC-funded Cumulative Disadvantage in the CJS project and linked Ministry of Justice Data First datasets, it provides a collaborative platform for knowledge exchange and the co-creation of solutions to reduce inequalities.

Who's leading the event?

Hosted by CLINKS in partnership with Action for Race Equality (ARE).

Research presented by Dr Kitty Lymperopoulou, University of Plymouth, Principal Investigator of the ESRC project.

Open to

Open to practitioners, policymakers, justice system user groups, young people, voluntary/community organisations, and members of the public.

Of particular interest to

Of particular interest to professionals and organisations in the criminal justice sector, equality and diversity advocates, community groups, and anyone concerned with racial and ethnic inequalities in justice outcomes.
