Fostering Digital Citizenship with GenAI
Date & time
6 November 2025 | 15.30-16.30
What's on offer?
This interactive workshop explores the role of generative artificial intelligence (gen-AI) in education. Participants will begin with an introduction to gen-AI and insights from the ESRC project Teaching Digital Citizenship: Data Ethics in the Classroom and Beyond. The session continues with collaborative group work where attendees explore teaching and learning challenges using gen-AI. The workshop concludes with a group discussion reflecting on practical applications and implications for schools.
What's it about?
As gen-AI gains attention in education and the media, educators need practical tools and guidance to navigate its opportunities and challenges. This workshop provides a hands-on exploration of how gen-AI works and how it can be applied in the classroom. Participants will engage with real-world examples from schools in England and Scotland, considering both benefits and ethical considerations. Attendees will leave with actionable ideas for using gen-AI in their teaching, and the ability to shape outcomes responsibly for their students.
