When disaster strikes or a humanitarian crisis unfolds, researchers and practitioners' step into some of the world’s most demanding environments. ‘Humanitarian Careers in a Changing World’ invites you to walk in their shoes for an afternoon.
Your journey begins with an immersive hour of hands-on exploration. Build a “go-bag,” the essential kit for sudden deployment. Handle real shelter and WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) materials and add your hopes for the future onto our interactive wall.
Then gather around the table for a roundtable discussion with experts who have lived this work. They’ll share how they navigate the challenges, the rewards, and the realities of a career dedicated to humanitarian action and disaster response.
Come and join us to find out what a “our working lives’ are all about and imagine what your own working life might look working on the front line of some of the world’s most pressing problems.

The main target audience is Undergraduate Students and A level students. Or those that are interested in working in disasters and humanitarianism and want to find out more. Geography students, sociology and anthropology students, young people interested in tackling some of the world's most pressing problems – conflict, climate change or disaster response, those interested in careers with the Charities like the Red Cross, Oxfam etc.
