Loops for Stagnation
Date & time
22 October - 23 October 2025 | 18.00-22.00
What's on offer?
Free drop-in installation as part of the Leeds Light Night programme on campus.
The Loop has been living a harmonious life with all beings...but recently some of the beings have discovered a way to manipulate and control it. Can they live together in harmony? Come and experiment with this interactive movement-based installation by artist Gabi Kiryluk, which enables visitors to explore their own relationship to global systems such as climate. Can you predict Loop's response?
This playful and powerful installation enables visitors to consider the nature of the human effect on climate, sometimes clear and direct, sometimes startlingly unpredictable.
What's it about?
Loops for Stagnation is an interactive projection that transforms the theatre into a meeting point with an abstract representation of our climate system. As an interactive installation, it challenges the traditional division between creator and viewer, transforming previously passive observers into active participants who shape the outcome of the piece. In the context of climate change, it connects participants to the climate system by showing feedback processes and tipping points as dependent on their actions, rather than existing elsewhere in disconnection.
Who's leading the event?
Gabi Kiryluk (recent graduate of UoL) working with Dr Jez Coram, School of Media and Communication.
