What's it about?
“Tradwife” influencers are taking social media by storm. But what’s really behind their appeal? Do they signal a revival of traditional values among young women — or does it reflect something else?
At this event, we go beyond the headlines to uncover what the evidence really tells us about what young women want. Drawing on new survey data from young women in the UK, and from large scale data on gender role attitude such as the Gender and Generations Survey and the British Social Attitudes Survey, report authors Dr Constance Beaufils, Shiyu Yuan, and Professor Heejung Chung will present fresh insights into women’s attitudes towards the workforce and shifting attitudes toward gender roles.
They will be joined by a panel, including a representative from the Young Women’s Trust, The Stylist magazine, and others to discuss how these cultural narratives compare with lived realities, especially in the context of Gen Z’s work–life expectations, economic pressures, and job insecurity.
