A 40-minute talk by Hyab Yohannes, reflecting on themes from his book The Refugee Abyss, followed by a 45- minute workshop session with the audience, reflecting on their thoughts and experinces.

This talk explores writing as both a journey and an act of resistance. Drawing on stories and voices in The Refugee Abyss, Hyab Yohannes shows how displaced people can reclaim their voices through poetry, theory and lived experience. The event invites us to think about what it means to survive and create in the face of silence, loss and erasure.
