What's on offer?

An hourly conversation between Alexis Papahelas, Executive Editor of Kathimerini and one of Greece’s leading journalists, and Professor Vassilis Monastiriotis to reflect on Greece’s trajectory and prospects. The discussion will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A inviting questions from the audience.

What's it about?

Greece has travelled a remarkable path over the past decade, moving from deep economic crisis to a period of renewed stability and recovery. But what comes next? As geopolitical tensions intensify and the global economy becomes increasingly fragmented, the country once again finds itself navigating a shifting and uncertain landscape.

In this timely conversation, Alexis Papahelas and Professor Vassilis Monastiriotis will offer insights into how global power shifts, regional tensions and domestic choices are reshaping Greece’s role in Europe and beyond. The discussion will explore the challenges and opportunities facing Greece in an era defined by instability, competition and change.

Who's leading the event?

  • Alexis Papahelas, Executive Editor of the Greek newspaper Kathimerini and leading commentator for the Greek SKAI TV network.
  • Chaired by Vassilis Monastiritiotis, Director of the LSE Centre for Research on Contemporary Greece and Cyprus - Hellenic Observatory, Eleftherios Venizelos Chair of Contemporary Greek Studies and Professor in Political Economy in the European Institute at LSE.
