How feelings influence our financial decisions throughout our lives
Date & time
26 October - 31 October 2026
Money & finance theme
What's on offer?
Exhibit exploring the impact of emotions on our spending habits and financial decisions.
What's it about?
From student debt anxiety and fears-of-missing-out, to mid-life housing pressures and retirement fears, our financial choices are shaped by far more than just numbers.
Developed by researchers from the Management School and the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience, the Money and Emotions installation takes you on a journey through personal finance choices at four key stages of life. Informed by behavioural finance theory, the interactive exhibit explores how emotions, social pressures, habits, and cognitive biases influence our spending.
Join experts for a fun, interactive and stigma-free approach to understanding your emotional relationship with money, and learning how to build healthier financial habits. Practical guides for navigating financial decisions at every life stage will also be available to take home.
