What's on offer?

An interactive discussion, led by Professor Nava Ashraf, exploring how understanding one’s personal sense of purpose transforms work, productivity and leadership in an age of rapid technological and social change.

Light refreshments will be available from 6pm, with further opportunities to network after the event.

What's it about?

In a world where burnout, disengagement, and “quiet quitting” dominate workplace headlines, Professor Nava Ashraf’s research offers a different perspective, showing that the most enduring source of motivation lies not in monetary incentives, but in meaning — the manifestation of one’s personal identity and purpose.

Drawing on large-scale studies with global firms, Professor Ashraf examines how meaning drives human motivation and productivity.  This interactive event invites participants to reflect on what it means to reimagine work — and how we can build labour markets that cultivate fulfilment, innovation, and collective purpose.

Who's leading the event?

Nava Ashraf, Professor in the Department of Economics at LSE.

This event is taking place in association with the Campaign for Social Science.
