What's on offer?

This interactive event brings together academics, industry experts and young people with experience of contributing to policy to explore the economic challenges facing young adults today. Through a series of short presentations and a panel discussion, participants will hear evidence and insights from different perspectives before taking part in facilitated group discussions. Young people will lead workshop conversations around key questions on money, work, economic independence and the cost-of-living crisis, with groups sharing their ideas and potential solutions with the wider audience. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the barriers facing young adults and explore practical, evidence-based approaches to improving financial wellbeing and economic independence.

What's it about?

This event explores the economic challenges facing young adults today, including high living and housing costs, student debt, irregular employment, rising unemployment and other barriers that can make achieving economic independence more difficult. Bringing together academics, young people and industry contributors, the discussion will examine how factors such as financial education, confidence, financial capability and access to work experience opportunities can either support or hinder money management, saving and planning for the future. Participants will explore practical, evidence-based approaches to helping young people navigate these challenges in the context of the cost-of-living crisis.
