What's on offer?

This will be a participatory workshop where we will ask those attending to bring along an object or image that represents ‘well-being’ or ‘barriers to well-being’ to them. We will use the objects as a starting point for a discussion around the theme of well-being more broadly and the festival theme in particular, which we will then translate into a print-making activity.

It will take place at the Liverpool Independent Art School studio (Upper Hill Street Liverpool) which has all materials and equipment needed for print making.

What's it about?

We will primarily use Liverpool Independent Art Schools existing database alongside social media (Instagram and Bluesky) and the ‘Art in Liverpool’ mailing list. LIAS has found that some older women drop off from using their classes due to financial precarity. Offering a free print making class will allow people to (re-)engage who may face financial barriers. By the end of the class they will have produced a print which they can leave with and we will speak to those attending about exhibiting their outputs in LIAS and at UoL and LJMU.

All advertising material will acknowledge both the ESRC festival of social science and University of Liverpool.

Who's leading the event?

Dr Claire Pierson, University of Liverpool; Dr Hannah Baumeister, LJMU
