World Café: Let’s talk about Parental Pancreatic Cancer

The session will run for approximately 3 hours and will include several structured elements. It will begin with a short, accessible introduction to the research topic to provide context for participants. The main component will involve three facilitated rounds of small-group table discussions, where participants rotate between tables and engage with different guiding questions related to young people’s experiences and support needs. This format encourages a diversity of perspectives and allows ideas to build progressively across the session.

When a parent has pancreatic cancer, young people’s voices are too often unheard. Join PhD researcher Caitlin McShane and colleagues at Queen’s University Belfast, in partnership with NIPANC (Northern Ireland’s Pancreatic Cancer Charity) for a free interactive World Café workshop which brings together young people, families, professionals, and members of the public to explore real stories and reflect together.  

Hear insights from current research being conducted at Queen’s exploring adolescents’ experiences when a parent has pancreatic cancer.

Take part in small table group conversations connecting lived experience with professional insight to brainstorm ideas for improving support (you can contribute as little or as much as you are comfortable with).  After the event we will analyse the group conversations to help inform recommendations for support solutions.
