Art, Health and Our Communities: Fun and Crafts for the Whole Family

Fun and Crafts for the Whole Family offers creative, playful activities for children and families to enjoy together. Younger children can take part in role play inspired by everyday community settings helping them explore what happens in local places, the roles people play, and what it means to feel safe and connected. Families can also enjoy colouring in artwork linked to themes of community, health and safety and much more. It’s a relaxed space for children to play, create, imagine and explore important ideas in a fun, accessible way.

Fun and Crafts for the Whole Family is about creating a relaxed, playful space where children and families can explore ideas of community, health, safety and wellbeing through creativity and imagination. Younger children can take part in role play inspired by familiar everyday places — such as shops, post offices and other local settings — helping them think about how communities work, the different roles people play, and what it means to feel safe, included and connected.

Families will also be able to enjoy colouring and creative activities linked to themes of health, safety and community, using artwork and designs that help bring these ideas to life in an accessible, child-friendly way. Alongside this, there may be opportunities for light movement activities, dressing up, face painting and other hands-on crafts.

As part of the wider Arts, Health and Our Communities event, this area uses play and art to open up gentle conversations about important topics. It gives children space to imagine, create and express themselves, while giving parents and carers the chance to join in, talk together, and connect with local support, advice and community organisations available on the day.
