What's on offer?

Drop-in exhibition of heritage computers from the Swansea History of Computing Collection. Try classic games on original hardware, handle Punch cards and early storage media, take on code-breaking puzzles, and see demos of modern technologies alongside the machines that came before them

What's it about?

Swansea's computing story runs through the steelworks, the docks and the DVLA - through the working lives of people who may never have called themselves computer scientists. This drop-in exhibition brings machines out of storage and into the city centre, inviting visitors to see, touch and remember the technology that changed how the region worked, lived and played over the last 50 years.

Who's leading the event?

Dr Megan Venn-Wycherley, Lecturer in Educational, Historical and Philosophical Foundations of Computer Science

Open to

Everyone, Young People

Of particular interest to

Families looking for a free day out, young people curious about computing and where it might take them, and anyone who worked with computers in Welsh industry, education or the public sector.

Also of interest to teachers and educators exploring computing history as a classroom resource, local history and heritage groups, and those interested in digital inclusion and Welsh-focus on provision in technology.
