What's on offer?

An, interactive nature and wellbeing event will take place at the Daphne Steele Building, University of Huddersfield, on Friday 6 November 2026. Children and their families can enjoy creative activities, immersive nature experiences, guided waterway exploration, and learn how green and blue spaces support mental health. Take-home resources will encourage families to continue exploring green and blue spaces in their local area.

What's it about?

The event focuses on the connection between nature, creativity and mental health and wellbeing. Through a range of interactive activities, children will explore how green and blue spaces—such as parks, woodlands, rivers and canals—can support positive mental health, encourage curiosity and inspire creative expression.

Activities will include nature-themed arts and crafts, immersive experiences in the University’s immersive suite, and a guided exploration of local waterways delivered with the Canal & River Trust. Children will also learn about local nature recovery and discover practical ways to enjoy and care for natural spaces in their own communities.

Attending will provide pupils with an engaging, educational experience outside the classroom, opportunities to develop their understanding of wellbeing and the environment, and resources to continue exploring nature with their families.

Who's leading the event?

Samantha Tavender, Dr Rajeeb Kumar Sah and Dr Dillon Newton
