What's on offer?
Local and combined authorities face many challenges when applying for place-based funding – from competitive funding to meeting the needs of stakeholders.
The Game: Players will work together to choose a project to fund. The project must meet the aims of the majority of stakeholders within the perimeters of a central government fund. Each player will play as a chosen stakeholder to argue the case for their preferred project whilst navigating strict criteria, changes in circumstances and the wider need of the local area.
Book a 1 hour timeslot. The game takes a minimum of 30 minutes, depending on the number of players. With a minimum of 3 players required for each game, individuals can be teamed up.”
What's it about?
The event is about demystifying the processes local authorities use to access competitively allocated central government funding opportunities.
Join us for a drop-in event that will engage attendees in a game simulating the often-competitive processes that local authorities follow to obtain central government funding. In the simulation, participants will be asked to choose appropriate projects to fund based on funding criteria, stakeholder objectives, and the challenges and opportunities a town can face. Over the course of the activity, participants will learn about the difficulties local policymakers face when attempting to secure funding, as well as the trade-offs they make when tackling local challenges.
This event is presented in association with the Campaign for Social Science.
