What's on offer?
Does thinking depend on language? In this family-friendly workshop, you are invited to test ideas, solve puzzles and rethink bias about intelligence, reasoning, and decision-making. Join us at Manchester Central Library to reflect on your own thinking patterns and find out how the mind really works.
How do you decide what to eat for breakfast, what move to make in a game, or how to plan your day so that you can be home on time? Using games and illustrations, we will explore how people make decisions, why communication is often important and how people can make decisions even when they face communication challenges.
What's it about?
Led by expert researchers in cognetive fuctioning and lanuage therapy, this event will be a unique opportunity to delve deeper into perceptions about language acquisition and thought, while engaging with academic research.
You will participate in a collection of fun tasks designed for the whole family, allowing children and adults to explore how they make decisions, and whether language is involved in the process.
Who's leading the event?
Dr Yael Benn, Senior Lecturer within Health and High-Order Cognition.
Sally Pratten, Lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy.
