When to plant a tree? Ten years ago!
Date & time
3 November 2026 | 09.30-13.30
Money & finance theme
What's on offer?
The session will introduce young people to a range of savings, investment, and borrowing products, including ISAs, savings accounts, pensions, and consumer credit, while encouraging them to think critically about the risks and benefits of each option. Along the way, participants will investigate common financial concepts such as interest rates and APR and consider how these influence real-world decisions.
Through interactive simulations and games, participants will explore how today's financial decisions shape future opportunities and resilience.
What's it about?
The workshop will also introduce key ideas from law and behavioural economics. Participants will examine why people do not always make financially optimal decisions, exploring concepts such as present bias. They will also consider how legal rules and regulation seek to protect consumers and promote trust in financial systems through questions such as: Should there be limits on the interest rates lenders can charge? What protection should borrowers have? Why do we trust banks and payment systems to move our money safely?
