Building a collective life story for Sheerwater Communities

What's on offer?
An interactive, hands on workshop where we will explore the history of the Sheerwater Area using archival material from the Surrey History Centre and first hand experiences from residents, with the opportunity to contribute to generate a collective life story for the resident communities and decision makers using systems thinking ideas.
What's it about?
In this event, participants will get together to explore historical resources about Sheerwater, giving them the opportunity to reflect on their own experiences from the area. We will start by touring around the Surrey History Centre to understand how memories are preserved; we will then draw on fresh insights from residents life stories and relevant archival material about Sheerwater to build an inviting collective memory which could be then help in future decision making for the Sheerwater communities. Who's leading the event?
Dr. José-Rodrigo Córdoba-Pachón, Associate Professor at Royal Holloway with vast expertise in systems thinking and participatory action research; Julian Pooley, Public Services and Engagement Manager (non-academic partner). Eddy Valetta – Manager of the Mascot Hub.

Residents from Sheerwater that have lived in the area for a considerable amount of time, members of the public with an interest or stake in the life of communities.
Of particular interest to
Although the focus of the event is in Sheerwater, people living and working in the surrounding areas could also benefit if they want to contribute with ideas, experiences and insights.
