Ethical Food & Fair Work: Exploring the Co-operative Difference

5-minute introduction by University of Salford academic on benefits of co-operatives for sustainable and ethical food followed by 10 minute presentation by 8th Day Workers Co-operative on how it promotes ethical food, fair work and sustainability, and a 10 minute Q&A session. Participants will then engage in group discussions on how to balance affordability with ethical and local sourcing and how local people can engage with and support co-operatives (35 minutes).

Using 8th Day Co-operative as a living local example, this event will introduce the public to worker ownership and explore how co-operatives can contribute to fairer work, ethical food choices, stronger communities and environmental responsibility. The event aims to build community awareness, encourage conversation and show practical ways in which local people can engage with and support co-operative enterprise. Tea, coffee and cakes will be available for participants
