What's on offer?

An interactive stall with Lego brick building, exploring low carbon housing

What's it about?

The primary activity will be building homes using construction bricks (such as Lego) with miniature representations of low carbon technologies (e.g. solar panels and heat pumps). The activity will engage young children through familiar materials and provide opportunities to open conversations about different approaches to housing and technologies. Alongside this will be activity sheets for children to draw their own representations of low carbon homes and to stick on particular features that they like, using a selection of pre-existing images for support. Please note this event is part of Cardiff University's 'Be a Social Scientist' day on Tuesday 27th October 2026.

Who's leading the event?

Dr Fiona Shirani, Research Fellow, School of Social Sciences, Cardiff University

Open to

Children aged 5 and above and their families

Of particular interest to

Children who like playing with Lego.
