What's on offer?

Join us for a discussion about the costs of dying in the UK and break down the taboo that often surrounds death, dying and bereavement. You will have the opportunity to engage in a creative activity, creating a collage which represents the various costs of dying. This includes the financial costs of dying, but also the more ‘hidden’ costs such as the emotional, physical, logistical and temporal costs. Light refreshments will be provided, and a digital artist will be present to capture the event.

What's it about?

The average funeral in the UK costs around £4,000, but what about the other costs that can occur when someone dies?

Death, dying and bereavement remain taboo subjects, however, and people are rarely given the opportunity to talk about the various (and often unanticipated) costs that can arise when a person dies.

Who's leading the event?

Sophie Atherton, Research Associate at The University of Manchester

Kate Reed, Professor of Scociology at The University of Manchester
