What's on offer?

Do we know more maths than we think?

Come and explore the mathematics of currency, sport, hairstyling, board games, sound, and much more at this free, family-friendly event.

Through a series of interactive workshops (co-developed by young people from the Moss Side Millennium Powerhouse as members of the University of Manchester's Very Local Maths research project), you'll discover how mathematics is embedded in everyday practices, interests, and communities.

What's it about?

Inspired by young people's own experiences and local lives, these workshops offer creative, hands-on opportunities to experience mathematics in unexpected and fun ways.

Drop in anytime during one of our two sessions (10.00am-12.00pm or 1.00-3.00pm) to take part in interactive activities, meet our research team, and explore the exhibition documenting our research journey.

Who's leading the event?

Dr Laura Black, Professor of Education at The University of Manchester

Dr Charlotte Megroureche, Research Associate at The University of Manchester

Keisha Thompson, Artist, Writer and Community Facilitator

Andrea Nelson, Director of Sense SEND Services Ltd
